The Caminito del Rey walkway that has been discussed on this blog a few times recently is ready to open this Easter following a multi million Euro renovation program. Some parts were rebuilt with the aid of helicopters but when it was originally built, donkeys were used in its construction.
The 7.7 kilometre walkway has attracted a lot of interest from around the world with the booking website crashing at one point because of the sheer volume of traffic!
The walkway was originally closed ten years ago because of safety concerns but since then this spectacular and wonderful walkway has been rebuilt – but you need to be fit to walk the length of the walkway! At 7.7 kilometres there is nowhere to get off if you have had enough.
Entry to the walkway is free for a limited period but visitors must still book via the booking website.
