When on holiday on the Costa del Sol, everyone wears shorts and flip flops. But did you know that it is an offence to drive a car without proper footwear?
Police on the Costa del Sol have random roadblocks where cars are stopped and drivers checked for alcohol, papers and proper footwear.
Don’t be caught out and don’t take the risk!! Always wear proper shoes when driving! As tempting as it is to jump in the car to go to the local shop in flip flops or flimsy shoes, we recommend that you do not. If caught, the fine for improper footwear is 200 Euros.
In addition, always have your driving licence with you. It serves as your ID and if caught driving without it, the police could make life difficult and fine you.
It goes without saying that one should never drink and drive. Legal alcohol limits here in Spain are half that of the UK.
