The recent changing of the clocks marked the start of the summer season here in southern Spain and with that, Malaga airport is expecting 13.5 million passengers this year which is almost 15% up on 2015! The Costa del Sol is the “go to” destination with 80,000 flights planned on 220 routes world-wide.
In terms of where flights come from, the UK still heads the list and then Germany, who this year look likely to show the biggest increase in passengers this year.
It was also confirmed that the city of Malaga had an excellent Easter period according to the local mayor who is quoted as saying that more than 38 million Euros was spent by tourists and visitors.
Without doubt the Costa del Sol is going to be very busy this year, indeed road traffic is already noticeably busier and with villa rental enquiries levels higher again following on from record numbers last year, villas that are currently available will become booked very shortly.
