We were in the stunning and historic town of Ronda over the weekend which is situated in a mountainous area 750 feet above sea level, about 100 kilometres west of Malaga. The town also has one of the very first bullrings built in Spain, the construction of which was completed in 1784. The town is also notable for its enormous gorge which is spanned by the Puenta Nuevo bridge which was built in 1793.
The town was a favourite location for Ernest Hemingway and Orson Welles who both were part time residents and wrote of the beauty of the town.
We recommend a visit to Ronda which features a drive up the mountain on a very good road with lots of twists and turns. There are several stops along the way that offer spectacular views of the countryside as well as beautiful views of north Africa and Gibraltar.
We took several pictures of the town and some of the spectacular views on the way there.
