After the week long break for Christmas, Malaga CF have returned to training hoping to continue their historic run of good form that has sent them up the table with 30 points gained from 16 matches. However with the team having had some time off, attention has moved to looking at strengthening the team with new players now that it has been confirmed that Roque Santa Cruz will be leaving the Costa del Sol to join Mexican club Cruz Azul. The player has spent two and a half years with Malaga and is returning to Latin America in a deal that was confirmed last Sunday.
Malaga CF did quite well out of the deal making 1.5 million Euros for the club and of course this will also save the club some money paying his wages which were the highest of any player at the club. Thanks to the sale of this player, Malaga CF now have the resources to sign a replacement and an announcement on this is expected quite soon.
